HKUST Music Alive! is a new concert series promoting The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as a destination for creative, well-rounded global leaders who are exposed to the power of the arts during their university education.

 

Bright Sheng – Artistic Director

The MacArthur Fellow Bright Sheng was born on December 6, 1955, in Shanghai, China, and moved to New York in l982. He is currently the Leonard Bernstein Distinguished University Professor at University of Michigan, and Y. K. Pao Distinguished Visiting Professor at HKUST.

Matthew Tommasini – Associate Artistic Director

Matthew Tommasini (b.1978) has been awarded top prizes including the Charles Ives Scholarship from the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the ASCAP/CBDNA Frederick Fennell Prize and grants from the ASCAP Foundation’s Leonard Bernstein Fund and the American Music Center’s Composer Assistance Program, among others.
